Her public sector work includes all orders of government -- Federal, Provincial, Territorial, Municipal and First Nations.

Lily has been a full-time consultant for eighteen (18) years.  She successfully established and managed a branch office of a national consulting firm, and developed the organizational transformation and career management business of an international firm.  In both these roles, she was responsible for building teams, designing systems/processes, business development and all aspects of management and project management.  She has been the owner and operator of her own consulting firm for fourteen (14) years.

Lily’s approach is to work with the people in an organization to build internal competencies and capacity, either through action learning or in a training setting. She has documented processes and best practices to share with clients for their use after the project is complete and to assist people in using the tools and techniques in their every day work.  Since 1999, Applied Strategies’ (Lily Simpson’s) models, tools and techniques for policy development and implementation and planning have been used nationally by the Federal Government across all departments and agencies to build capacity in these areas.  Lily has designed and delivered various courses Grant MacEwan University, the University of Alberta, Keyano College, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and the University of Saskatchewan.

In addition to her consulting work, Lily is a member of the Board of Directors for the Seniors Association of Greater Edmonton (SAGE) and is on the TELUS World of Science Foundation (previously a Board Member).  She was on the Advisory Committee for the Business Faculty, Human Resources at Grant MacEwan College (2004 – 2007).  She has held several board positions for the International Strategic Leadership Forum (Edmonton Chapter), including President and the Rotary Club of Edmonton (Downtown).
